Biography
From the peasants. Member of the Civil War (1918-1920). He served in the Red Army in the brigade. Frunze, a political fighter.
Self-taught, later studied at the Communist University. Artyom in Kharkov .
Active participant in the literary and social life of Kharkov. He was a member of the organization of peasant writers "Plow" since 1925, took part in the organization of literary circles in factories.
During the literary discussion of 1925-1927, together with I. Mikitenko , N. Zabila and others, he moved from Plow to VUPSP .
He worked as the director of the Kharkov Historical Museum . In 1937 he was expelled from the party for communication with the enemy of the people.
Arrested in August 1937 on charges of participation in the Ukrainian nationalist anti-Soviet organization. Repressed. He was shot in the NKVD prison on the eve of 1938. Rehabilitated posthumously in 1959.
Creativity
He made his debut in 1924 as a poet in the newspaper Selyanska Pravda.
Author of poetry collections “Fire Flowers” (1927), short stories “Three Sides” (1929), “Kirilo Stryuk” (1930), “Opovidannya” (1932; all - Kharkov), plays “Prohibition” (co-authored with A. Poltoratsky ; posed in 1932). He wrote a book of memoirs “From the History of Partisan Struggle in Cherkasy (Memoirs of 1919)” (in the journal “Annals of the Revolution”, 1927, No. 2).
