Perception

The film has a 73% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Barbara Van Denburg from the Arizona Republic gave the film two and a half stars out of five.

Godfrey Cheshire of RogerEbert.com gave the film three stars.

C. Joanna Robledo of Common Sense Media gave the film three out of five stars.

Trisha Olszewski of TheWrap called the film “a sweet and attractive ride, taking place in a colorful autumn and accompanied by an indie soundtrack that lulls you to sleep. It is also a journey back in time, now offering the archaic sound of typewriter knocking and the quirkiness of a period when a man and woman had to get married in order to get a motel room. The fledgling relationship between Jamie and Didi also refers to the fact that both actors give natural, if not outstanding, performances. ”

Steven Farber of The Hollywood Reporter wrote: “Sadwith works with all actors skillfully, and he also brings visual color to pastoral scenes in New Hampshire. Eric Hert's cinematography is a powerful asset. The scriptures of Sadwith are equally perceptive. ”

Sheri Linden of the Los Angeles Times wrote a negative review, stating that the film "feels like an ordinary teenager longing."
