Seeling, Carsten

After graduating from high school, from 1975 to 1978, he trained at the Telefunken plant in Hanover, where he worked for a year. From 1979 to 1982, he studied at the as an economist, and in 1982-1988 he continued economics at the University of Bremen (from 1985-1986 he studied at the student exchange at the University of Maryland at College Park ). In 1988–1989, an alternative civilian service was conducted , in 1993–1999 he prepared a dissertation and defended his doctorate in economics ^[2] .

From 1976 to 1990 he was an activist of the organization of young socialists in Nienburg, from 1993 to 2002 was on the land council of the Bremen branch of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, from 1995 to 2009 - a member of the city council of Bremen. From 2004 to 2006 he headed the Bremen organization of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, from 2005 to 2009 - a party faction in the city council.

In 2009 he was elected to the Bundestag, on September 27, 2009 he joined the Finance Committee. Deputy Chairman of the land group Lower Saxony / Bremen, from December 2011 - Member of the Board of the SPD ^[3] .

July 15, 2015 elected deputies to the position of the Chairman of the Senate and the burgomaster of the free Hanseatic city of Bremen ^[4] .
