Creativity
Painter. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1962). He was awarded a diploma of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
He was a member of all-Union, republican, zonal, foreign (Hungary, Cuba) exhibitions, including personal (1980, 1995 - posthumously).
The main theme in the work is the theme of war. He is the author of the works “Kursk Land” (1968), “From the Old World” (1967-1969), “Under the Dives” (1973), “On the Northern Face of the Kursk Arc” (1973). In the fall of 1981, he visited places where he participated in battles and painted the landscape “Nazia River. At the former front line. "
The artist’s works are in the Kursk State Art Gallery. A. A. Deineki , the Kursk Regional Museum of Local Lore , in the Ponyrovsky Historical and Memorial Museum of the Battle of Kursk welcome visitors to the canvas "Fighting Artillerymen Under the Ponyry", "Under the Ponyry." [four]
Another direction of the artist's work is portraits of fellow countrymen-smokers, of which the most famous are the portraits of V. Solodukhin (1980), E. Nosov (1984), etc. [5]
I would like to add that Mikhail Stepanovich Shorokhov painted portraits of all our writers from the environment of Salnikov and Nosov, and almost all of them were successful. Especially the portraits of Volodya Detkov and Toli Trofimov . The portrait of A. Trofimov was the last work of Mikhail Stepanovich. He wrote it already sick, in fits and starts, every now and then laying down to rest behind a screen on a couch. I consider my portrait a success, although there is no absolute resemblance, and I am sitting on the canvas like Savva Morozov.

Friendship with Writer Eugene Nosov
He was a close friend of the Kursk writer Yevgeny Ivanovich Nosov .
Perhaps the closest person in spirit was the artist Mikhail Stepanovich Shorokhov for Yevgeny Ivanovich. It was great to see both of them in his art workshop after winter fishing, when, flushed with frost, still in warm felt boots, they began to make ear.
They met after the war - they spoke together before the students at school, but they had a lot in common, so, coincidentally, they both were wounded in the war on the same day - February 8, 1945, only Nosov was near Koenigsberg, and Shorokhov was near Breslau .
He is the protagonist in the essay of the writer “ I’ll get off at the far station ”, the story “The Last Polonaise” is dedicated to him, and their first meeting is described in the writer's memoirs.
Also, shortly before his death, in 1994, he met with the Kursk writer Boris Ageev - they were in the same room, and Ageev wrote the story " Death of an Artist " about him.
