Biography
In 1914 to 1918 he studied at the natural department of the Department of Geography and Ethnography of the Physics and Mathematics Department of Kazan University . In 1918, after graduating with honors from Kazan University, Vorobyov was left at the Department of Geography and Ethnography as a professor’s scholarship student with the appointment of an assistant.
Since 1914, he participated in expeditions (including in 1915-1916 to Siberia and the Far East , where he collected a valuable ethnographic collection on the Nanai ).
Since 1918 he taught (professor in 1934-1945) at Kazan University .
In 1922 he created and headed the ethnographic department of the State Museum of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , at the same time headed the natural-historical department of the museum, and in 1923-1934 he was the director of the Central Museum of Local Lore of the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
He took an active part in organizing the local history movement in the republic. Founder and first dean of the geographical faculty of Kazan Pedagogical Institute (1934-1945).
Since 1945 - head of the sector of archeology and ethnography and deputy director of the language, literature and history of the Kazan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences .
In 1946 he resumed expeditions among Tatars and Chuvashs .
Scientific activity
Author of fundamental works on ethnography of Kazan Tatars and Chuvashs. Conducted a study of the ethnogenesis of the Volga peoples. He explored the Krasnoyarsk Territory in order to study the Yenisei fauna and the Ussuri Territory , where he was engaged in geographical and ethnographic studies.
