Ilex friedrichii (lat.) Is an extinct species of the Holly genus of the Holly family. It is known from the deposits of the Huttian stage of the Oligocene era of the Paleogene period of Germany [2] .

Etymology
The generic name comes from the name of stone oak ( Quercus ilex ). The species epithet is given in honor of the German professor of botany , mycologist , doctor , doctor of medical sciences , geographer , linguist , historian and ethnographer Paul Friedrich August Ascherson [2] .
Study History
The holotype MLU.Fri1883.1, represented by a sheet print, was discovered in the commune of Lutherstadt-Islebentepher, part of Germany , and is now located in the Halle-Wittenberg University [2] .
In 1884, Paul Ascherson described a species called Ilex longifolia [2] .
In his work published in 2019, Russian systematic botanist Alexander Borisovich Doweld noted that the name used by Ascherson was already used earlier, and therefore changed it to Ilex friedrichii [2] .
