History

The exhibition was initiated by the administration of the Japanese Governor General of Taiwan with the participation of representatives of the business elite. The exhibition was held from October 10 to November 28, 1935. In total, about a million people visited her.

Description

The exhibition was held at four different venues in the city of Taihoku, present-day Taipei , and its environs.

The site in the Ximending area occupied an area of 4.29 hectares. It housed pavilions dedicated to Taiwan's economy: civil engineering, transportation, sugar, mining, and forestry. Here were the pavilions of Korea and Manchuria , which at that time were also colonies of Japan.

The largest exhibition area, covering an area of 7.93 hectares, was located in the New Taihoku Park (now the Peace Memorial Park 228), including the premises of the Governor's Museum of Taiwan (now the National Museum of Taiwan). Expositions located here were dedicated to Taiwan's social and cultural progress under Japanese rule, including education and health.

Expositions dedicated to nature and tourism in Taiwan were placed in Beitou , a hot spring resort (now an area within the Taipei metropolitan area). In particular, a plan was presented here to create the Datong National Park (now Yangminshan National Park ), the first Taiwan national park created during the Japanese occupation and opened in 1937.

In the Datong area, there was the Southern Pavilion, dedicated to the Pacific region and Japanese expansion [1] [2] .
