Micomitra Bowden , 1964

Description

The forehead is covered with shiny scales [1] . The third antennal segment with one flagelomer , on which there is a apical seta [2] . Body and legs in few weak setae. Wings iridescent. The male epiphallus is greatly expanded at the apex. Simple scones . The spermatheca in females is elongated and thin-walled [3] .

Biology

The larvae of Micomitra stupida parasitize ant lions [4] [5] .

Classification

There are 18 species in the world fauna [6] . Similar genera are the African genus Atrichochira and the Australian genus Pseudopenthes . Many species of Micomitra are originally described in the genus Exoprosopa [1] .
