Content
Biography
He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Art Institute of the Lithuanian SSR in 1954. Until 1959 he worked in the Scientific Restoration and Production Workshop. He worked as chief architect, first at the Institute of Public Utilities in Vilnius (1959-1965), then at the Institute for Urban Design (1965-1986).
Since 1987, he headed his own design studio {{langi | lt | „J. Šeiboko architektūros studija} “}. At the same time, in 1986-2005, at the Vilnius Technical University of Gediminas (until 1991, the Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute); Professor (1986) [1] .
Projects
He developed a project for the reconstruction of the Old Town in Vilnius (together with architects Kazimeras Šiašalgis and Sigitas Lasavitskas; 1958) [1] .
The author of projects for administrative and public buildings, mainly in Vilnius, as well as in other cities of Lithuania - in Palanga , Panevezys , Utena .
The most important projects in Vilnius:
- Turistas Hotel (1974; renovated in 1999 and 2003; now the “Best Western Hotel Naujasis Vilnius” )
- communications complex at the intersection of Vilnius and Palangos streets (with co-authors, 1979; now the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania ; Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, 1980)
- The building of the Consumer Cooperation on Gedimin Avenue (1985)
- Administration building Lietuvos spauda (1997, now the Higher School of Law and Business)
- The building of the Lithuanian Savings Bank (now Swedbank ) on 15A Savanoryu Avenue (together with the architect Jurate Motskene, 1997)
A rest house (1981) was built in Palanga according to the Sheibokas project, in the Panevezys hotel “Turistas”, in Utena - a multifunctional sports complex (2009).
