Jahio cumolo

Jahyo Kumolo (born December 1, 1957 ) is an Indonesian politician and Minister of the Interior of Indonesia (since 2014). Member of the Council of People's Representatives of Indonesia (1987-1997, 1999-2014). A longtime supporter of Megawati Sukarnoputri , a member of the Democratic Struggle Party of Indonesia created by her since its founding (1998), general secretary of the party in 2010-2015 [1] . The first years of his political career, before the fall of the Suharto regime, was a member of the Golkar party (1987-1998) and an activist in the pro-Sukhart youth movement.

Biography

Chahyo Kumolo was born on December 1, 1957 in Surakarta . Chakhyo’s father, Bambang Subandiono ( indon. Bambang Soebandiono ), was a lieutenant in the National Army of Indonesia [2] , and was elected to the Council of People’s Representatives (SPS) five times. Chakhyo’s mother, Toeti Slemoon ( indon. Toeti Slemoon ) was also elected to the SPS [3] . Later, his family moved to the village of as part of County, the city of Semarang . In Semarang, he received secondary education: in 1970 he graduated from primary school, in 1974 - , and in 1976 - [4] .

After graduation, he entered the Law Faculty in Semarang, where he graduated in 1985. He later studied at the , graduated in 1994 [5] .

While studying at the University of Diponegoro, he worked for some time in a local Central Java newspaper. Then he was elected the head of the Central Java branch of the (NKIM), in fact the youth wing of the ruling Golkar party . In 1990-1993 he was chairman of the NKIM.

In 1987, he was first elected deputy of the SOR, after which he moved to Jakarta [3] . In parliament he was a member of the Golkar faction, was a member of the II and III commissions of the SOR, as well as in the under the SOR. In 1997, he was not re-elected in the next election. In 1998, after the fall of the Suharto regime, he became a member of the Democratic Party of Indonesia (DPI-B), in 1999 he again became a deputy of the Social Democratic Party, was deputy chairman of the DPI-B faction (1999-2002), and secretary of the faction (2002-2003) [6] .

In 2004, re-elected deputy of the SOR, at the same time became chairman of the DPI-B faction. Again received both of these posts following the 2009 election. In 2010, he was also elected Secretary-General of DPI-B [7] . In 2012, he lost the position of chairman of the faction to Megawati’s daughter Sukarnoputri Poan Maharani , and in 2015 he was replaced as Secretary General of [8] [9] .

After the victory of the DPI-B member, Joko Vidodo, in the 2014 presidential election, was appointed Minister of the Interior, joining the Office . Officially took the oath of October 27, 2014 [10] .

In 2017, he refused to remove the governor of Jakarta Basuki, Chahai Purnama , accused of blasphemy [11] . Later in the same year, at his order, the Indonesian branch of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami organization was banned [12] .

Family

Chacho Cumolo is married to Ernie Gunarti ( indon. Erni Guntarti ), a medical doctor by training. They have three children in their family, two of them daughters. The eldest child works as a doctor. The middle daughter is an actress, like her husband. The youngest daughter is a stewardess of the airline Lion Air . According to Jahyo, his daughter tried to move from Lion Air to Garuda Indonesia , but was refused. When in 2014, after his appointment as a minister, the leadership of Garuda Indonesia offered Jahyo to take his daughter to work, he refused, considering that he was not entitled, as an official, to promote the career of his children [6] .
