History

The settlement from which the city later grew was founded in 1810. The municipality of Florest was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1818.

The city is located in the northeast of the central part of the department, in the highlands of Eastern Cordillera , west of the Chikamocha River, approximately 55 kilometers northeast of the city of Tunja , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 2503 meters above sea ​​level [1] .

The municipality of Florest borders in the north with the territory of the municipality of Serins , in the northeast - with the municipality of Betheitiva , in the east - with the municipalities of Busbansa and Corrales , in the south - with the municipality of Nobsa , in the west - with the municipality of Santa Rosa de Viterbo . The area of ​​the municipality is 85 km² [2] .

Population

Economics

63% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are trade enterprises, 19.5% are industrial enterprises, 13% are service enterprises, 4.5% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
