Cape boar fish , or South African boar fish [1] ( lat. Pentaceros capensis ), is a species of ray-finned fish of the boarish family (Pentacerotidae) [2] .

Content
Appearance and buildThe body is compressed laterally, high, covered with ctenoid scales . The head is covered with a shell of coarse furrowed bones. The teeth on the jaws are arranged in strips, absent in the palate. The lateral line arches upward in the middle part of the body. Pectoral fins long with longer upper rays. Tail fin with a small notch [3] [4] . Upper fin high. Body length up to 35 cm. Hard rays in the dorsal fin 12–13, soft 12–13, hard rays in the anal fin 4–9, soft rays 7–9. Color brown [2] .
Distribution and habitatIt is found from the southeastern Atlantic to the western Indian Ocean: from Port Nolloth, South Africa, south of Mozambique and Reunion on the continental shelf at a depth of 70 to 300 [2] .
Human interactionThe guarding status of the Kapa fish-boar is not defined, it is harmless to people, it is an object of small commercial fishing [2] .
