Catskill is a mountain range in the northern Appalachians , in the southeastern part of New York , USA , north-west of New York and south-west of Albany . Formed as a result of the destruction of the plateau . Are a favorite vacation spot for residents of New York and other cities. According to the Washington Irving story, Rip van Winkle fell asleep in these mountains for 20 years.
