Life and career
1989-2008: The Early Years and Education
Beka was born on August 11, 1989 in Honolulu , Hawaii , USA [1] . In addition to her parents, she has a sister in her family. She knows how to draw well, she studied at the high school of Moanalua [2] . In 2005, at the age of 16, Beck left for South Korea and became the Pledis Entertainment trainee to debut on the music scene. [3]
2009—11: After School Debut
Beck made her debut on stage as part of After School in early 2009 with the single “Ah!” [4] . Initially, the girl was the youngest in the group before Rain and Nana came. She held the position of the main rapper and wrote rap parts to many of the band's songs [5] . In February 2010, Becka participated in the single “Bring It Back” by Lee Hyori [6] .
June 17, 2011 it became known that Beck leaves After School to focus on a designer career in the United States [7] [8] [9] . On July 11, she released the song “Take Me to the Place”, the text of which she wrote herself [10] . July 9, two days before the release of the single, Beck took part in the second After School fantasy [11] .
2012 — present: Designer's career and other activities
In October 2012, Beka opened the I Crave You online store, which sells home-made jewelry. All goods were sold in one day [12] . On September 24, 2013, Beka performed at the annual KCON music festival in Los Angeles , where she spoke about the realities of the Korean industry; The performance was the first public for her since leaving After School [13] .
