Movie Process
First Information
On January 16, 2018, Lionsgate began to actively discuss the continuation of the film. It became known that the Spirigi Brothers , directors of the eighth part, will not occupy the director's seats and no replacement has yet been found. Three months later, on April 3, Twisted Pictures released a message that active development of the sequel began with screenwriters Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger [2] .
In May 2019, the film company Lionsgate again announced that it plans to restart the franchise. According to the company, comedian Chris Rock has already come up with a plot for the film, Darren Lynn Bowsman will become the director again. On the set, Rock will also take over the powers of a producer [3] . Lionsgate head Joe Drake commented on the idea of continuing the film from Chris Rock like this:
“Chris got this idea, which is very respectful of the material’s heritage, but at the same time enlivens the brand with his wit, creativity and love for this classic horror franchise”
On June 25, Darren Lynn Bowsman tweeted that filming will begin at the end of the month and his team will be actively working on a new part of the film [4] , he commented on it like this:
“We are starting shooting the new“ Saw ”in a few days. I never would have thought that I would do it again. I will be honest with you. No one is ready for this bloody madness. ”
Filming
Filming started on July 8 in Toronto [5] .
Release
The original release of the new part of the film was scheduled for October 23, 2020, but due to the simultaneous release of a new part of the Halloween movie series, the creators decided to postpone the date to May 15 of the same year.
