The 309th Fighter Aviation Regiment of Air Defense ( 309th Air Defense IAP ) is a military unit of the anti-aircraft fighter aviation that took part in the hostilities of the Great Patriotic War.

The history and combat path of the regiment
The 309th Fighter Aviation Regiment began forming at the Chertanovo Aerodrome of the Volokolamsk District of the Moscow Region on April 24, 1941 as part of 4 squadrons on I-16 airplanes throughout the state 015/134 , and on July 13 the regiment was redeployed to the Quay Airfield in the Schelkovo District of the Moscow Region where he continued formation. After the formation of the regiment on August 18 became part of the 78th Fighter Division of the Air Force of the Moscow Military District [1] [3] .
The full formation of the regiment was completed as part of the 6th Fighter Air Defense Air Corps . On July 27, 1941, as part of the 6th Air Defense Command of the Moscow Air Defense Zone, it entered combat operations against fascist Germany and its allies on I-16 aircraft. He carried out a cover of the city and military facilities of Moscow from the air, in addition to fulfilling the tasks of air defense, flew to the cover of his troops, storming the enemy troops, acting in the interests of the command of land fronts. In the summer and autumn of 1941, the regiment received a replenishment of I-153 aircraft [1] .
In September, the regiment ordered the commander of the 6th Air Defense Forces redeployed to the field airfield Gridino in Yegoryevsk District to cover the power plants in Shatura and facilities in the cities of Roshal , Voskresensk and Kolomna . On October 8, 1941, the first known airborne victory of the regiment in the Patriotic War was won: Lieutenant Poklonsky, piloting the I-16, in an air battle near Voskresensk (Krivandino village) shot down a German bomber Heinkel He 111 [3] [1] .
In January 1942, the regiment transferred 6 pilots with I-153 aircraft to the 565th Fighter Aviation Regiment . In February 1942, nNachal received and mastered the British fighter Hawker Hurricane (" Hurricane "). On April 5, the regiment, together with the 6th Air Defense Command, became part of the troops of the Moscow Air Defense Front. From August 10 to September 3, 1942, a group of pilots of the regiment (5 crews) conducted combat work as part of the combined air group of the IA Air Defense Force on Hurricane aircraft, operating under the operational control of the headquarters of the 102nd Fighter Aviation Division of the Air Defense in the Stalingrad area [1] .
On September 21, 1942, the regiment received 5 "Hurricanes" from the 428th IAP. On June 9, 1943, in connection with the transformation of the 6th Air Defense Defense Command into the 1st Air Fighter Army of the Moscow Air Defense Front, it entered the newly formed 319th Fighter Aviation Division as part of this alliance. On July 4, 1943, the Moscow Air Defense Front was transformed into a Special Moscow Air Defense Army as part of the Western Air Defense Front. On October 1, 1943, the regiment was expelled from the active army. In October 1943, the regiment began to rearm the American fighters Curtiss P-40 ( Kittyhawk ). On July 19, 1944, the regiment began to rearm the American fighters Bell P-39 Airacobra (" Air Cobra ") [1] .
In total, the regiment consisted of the active army: from July 27, 1941 to October 1, 1943 [4] [1] [2] .

Post-war regiment history
