Biography

Born June 10, 1927 in the village of Bozhedarovka [1] (now in the city of Krivoy Rog ). Childhood passed in the village of Green .

He graduated from school number 37 in Krivoy Rog [2] .

In 1947 he graduated from the Geological Department at the Kryvyi Rih Mining Institute , receiving a specialty "geologist". In 1947-1958 he worked as a geologist at the mines of Krivbass.

In 1958 he entered the Moscow Polygraphic Institute at the faculty of book and magazine decoration (workshop of I. I. Chekmazov). In 1960, at the end of the second year, a stroke occurred and the artist was forced to leave school and return to Krivoy Rog. He worked as a graphic artist in the Krivoy Rog House of Science and Technology, an artist at the Rosa Luxemburg mine .

He died on March 1, 2002 in the city of Krivoy Rog .

Creativity

He worked in the techniques of woodcut, linocut, plastic. Ex-libris has been engaged since 1969, created more than 230 works.

He created several bookplates dedicated to the Word of Igor's Campaign (1984-1985, linocuts). Two signs for the library of S. S. Voinov: on one - an old Russian writer at work, on the other - Prince Igor against the background of the army. On the ex-libris for the Moscow biologist G.V. Sumarukov, the artist portrayed the old Russian singer Boyan . The works on the topic are stored in the museum-reserve "The Word of Igor's Campaign" in Novgorod-Seversky.

Bookplates from the Shevchenko cycle are exhibited at the Tarasova Gora Museum, the Kiev Memorial Museum, the Kobzar Museum in Toronto and Palermo (Canada). The collection of prints and bookplates “Taras Shevchenko in the work of the engraver Boris Kunovsky” is kept in the Krivorozhsky Museum of History and Local Lore [3] [4] .

Bookplates dedicated to Lenin [5] , Yesenin [6] , Pushkin, Paul , Savitskaya [7] were created . The artist created bookplates for many connoisseurs of the book from Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan.

He participated in city, regional, republican (Ulyanovsk, 1989; Chisinau, 1990; Kiev, 1991) and international exhibitions (Vilnius, 1992; Ulyanovsk, 1994). The works were exhibited in Belgium, Great Britain, Canada, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland.
