Kharkiv-Polevoy Airport ( Ukrainian airport Kharkiv-Polovy Airport) is an airport whose construction was planned in the area of the Polevaya urban village, Dergachevsky district , Kharkov region , Ukraine .
By the beginning of the 1970s, Kharkov Airport annually served up to 600 thousand passengers [1] , and by the beginning of the 1980s their number increased to 1.5 million people. At the same time, the city came close to the airport and it was unable to serve long-distance and international airlines, to receive modern passenger and cargo airliners. The question of his removal from the territory of the city began to be considered.
By a resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR of June 23, 1986, the last Soviet general plan for the development of Kharkov was put into effect [2] , according to which the place for the construction of a new high-class airport that meets safety and environmental requirements was found in the area of the village of Polevaya , Dergachevsky district , which is 30 km away from Kharkov . In the future, the assembly plants of the aircraft factory were also planned there. It was planned to connect the airport with the city by expressway.
September 1, 1988 began the development of a feasibility study (TEO) of the project for the new Kharkov-Field Airport. The development of the new airport project was carried out by the Institute Ukroeproekt, and the terminal - Ukrgorstroyproekt.
In the late 1980s, the first equipment for excavation entered the marked areas of the field. The construction of the runway began. The village of Golovashevka was planned for demolition in connection with the construction.
In 1991, with the collapse of the USSR, construction was discontinued. The strip itself, like the airport terminal, went into operation as a continuation of the old airport in 2011.
