TS-62

TS-62 is a Soviet transport aircraft , created on the basis of the converted American Douglas S-47 , which in turn is a remake of the military transport version of the aircraft based on the passenger DC-3 . The name stands for "transport aircraft", the number 62 in the name means that the aircraft was converted to the Soviet engine ASH-62IR . [one]

TS-62 is a rework of the American S-47, with the difference that instead of an imported engine, a domestic ASH-62IR was installed on it, the production and delivery of which was much easier than obtaining imported spare parts. Accidents involving TS-62

On December 23, 1948, in the vicinity of Vnukovo Airport, the TS-62 aircraft collided in the sky with another aircraft, the Il-12. As a result of the disaster, 12 people died.
