Biography

Howard Hereo was born on April 18, 1978.

He made his debut in boxing at an adult international level in the 1994 season, when he joined the main team of the Papuan national team and spoke at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, where he was stopped by Englishman Danny Costello in the 1/8 final of the easiest weight category.

In 1995, I visited the Oceania Championship in Nuku'alofa, from where I brought the silver dignity award won in the lightweight weight - in the decisive final match I lost to the representative of Australia Sergin Useinov.

Thanks to a series of successful performances he won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . Already in the starting bout of the category up to 51 kg with a score of 4:11, he was defeated by Algerian Mehdi Assus and immediately dropped out of the fight for medals.

After the Atlanta Olympics, Géreo remained in the boxing team of Papua New Guinea for some time and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1997, in the lightest weight, he won the Arafura Games in Darwin, was the best at the home championship of Oceania in Port Moresby, and performed at the King's Cup in Bangkok [1] .
