Biography
Grigory Antonovich was born in 1868 in the village of Kursk, Stavropol Territory. He graduated in 1894 with a silver medal in drawing from the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, a student of Pavel Petrovich Chistyakov . G.A. Medvedev has medals: 2 silver (1889), 2 silver (1890), 1 silver (1891), 2 silver (1892), 1 silver (1894) and was awarded the title of class artist 3 degrees for the painting "With a Coal" and "Without air" [1] . After graduating from the Academy, he participated in the construction of an art school in Kazan , where he worked as a teacher for twenty-five years, and later as a school principal. His students were: Vasily Kirillovich Timofeev and Pavel Aleksandrovich Radimov [3] . Medvedev lived in the village of Elasy Kozmodemyansky County [3] , was a member of the first Kozmodemyanskoy exhibition, as well as numerous exhibitions in Kazan, Moscow and exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR) in the city of Krasnokokshaisk [2] . In 1920–1930, Grigory Medvedev painted paintings reflecting the life of the Mari people, historical paintings, among them: “Hike Stenka Razin” (1926) and “Gathering Yasaka” (1928), and also created a series of paintings “Floating the forest along the Kokshage River (1920s, 1935) [2] . Grigory Antonovich is a member of TatAHR (1923) and a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1932) [3] .
He died in 1944 in the village of Abramtsevo, Moscow Region , where he lived since 1932 [2] .
The paintings of the artist, Medvedev Grigory Antonovich are in the National Museum of the Republic of Mari El named after Timothy Yevseyev [3] .
