After graduating from the Academy of Arts (1836), he was one of the builders of the Pulkovo Observatory . Pakhomov include (1838) in the composition of the architects of the Commission for the resumption of the Winter Palace. Under the leadership of A. P. Bryulov, Pakhomov restored the gallery of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the St. George Parade of the Hermitage .
In 1839, Pakhomov married the daughter of A. E. Egorov , a professor of painting at the Academy of Arts, A. Yegorov [2] .
Repair work in the Winter Palace continued until the summer of 1841, when Pakhomov received the XII class rank, annual salary (1500 rubles in banknotes), a gold medal in memory of the palace renewal and a diamond ring as a reward for his diligent service [3] .
The trouble in the life of Pakhomov came unexpectedly. In the autumn of 1841, his own brother Nikolay and his sisterβs husband, a St. Petersburg merchant S. F. Maslyannikov, who were in danger of prison, were declared insolvent debtors. In an effort to help the families of loved ones, Pakhomov took over the debts of his relatives. Hoping for payment for future architectural projects, Alexey Alekseevich, borrowing money from all his acquaintances, paid about 30,000 rubles to creditors and issued debt receipts for the rest of the amount. Having saved his relatives from prison, Pakhomov himself fell into an extremely difficult situation. The doors of most houses in the capital slammed in front of him. It became difficult to find and income position. [2]
On the advice of the father-in-law Pakhomov was forced to leave the capital and move to Nizhny Novgorod (1842). In Nizhny Novgorod, he served as an assistant to the provincial architect and carried out design work on private orders. He designs and builds: The Church of the Presentation of the Lord in Kubintsevo [4] (1842), builds over the old tents of A. Panina [5] the third floor and changes their facade (1844), rebuilds the house of M. Nesterov [6] , manages the construction of the academic building of the Noble Institute [7] (1843-1848). Pakhomov carries out clean drawings of the interiors of buildings for submission to the Council of the Academy of Arts for the title of academician of architecture. After the death of Pakhomov in Nizhny Novgorod came the news of the assignment of the title of academician. The architect died before reaching the age of 35, without having learned the joyful news of conferring the desired title. Debt obligations and passionate aspirations to free themselves from them by any means exhausted his strength and led to premature death in the heyday of years, at the time of creative maturity. [2]
