Amar Meridzha ( Arabic: عمار مريجة ; born ) - Algerian judoka , representative of the light, semi-light and super-light weight categories. Biography

Amar Meridge was born on March 17, 1976.

He first declared himself in judo in 1994, speaking at the junior world championship in Cairo. A year later, he entered the main team of the Algerian national team and made his debut in the World Cup.

In 1996, he took fifth place at the World Junior Championships in Porto, performed at the World Cup stages in Budapest, Prague and Rome, as well as at the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta , where he won two fights in the 60 kg category and lost two fights, in In particular, in the consolation tournament for third place, he was stopped by the Russian Nikolai Ozhegin .

In 2002, he received silver at the African Championship in Cairo, took part in the World Super Cup in Paris.

After the Athens Olympics, Meridge remained in the judo team of Algeria for another Olympic cycle and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 2005, he won the African championship in Port Elizabeth, showed the fifth result at the World Super Cup in Hamburg, was noted for his performance at the world championship in Cairo .

In 2006, he became the third at an international tournament in Tunisia, won the African Championship in Mauritius.

In 2007, the lightweight champion was the best at the home All-African Games in Algeria and at the tournament in Marseille, he fought at the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro .

At the 2008 African Championships in Agadir, he won another gold medal, thus becoming the eight-time African judo champion.
