Biography
He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1879β1883), continuing his studies at the Academy of Arts after completing a course of science (until 1888) [2] . He received medals from the Academy of Arts: a small silver (1883), a large silver medal (1885), a small gold medal (1886) for the program "Project of the Gostiny Dvor for the capital city" . The title of class artist of the 1st degree (1888) for "the project of the station near the city at the seaside baths . " The title of academician (1894). [one]
Since 1894 he lived in Yaroslavl. In December 1894, together with P.A. Romanovsky and I.F. Barshchevsky, he sent a petition to the City Duma on the foundation of the City drawing classes.
He served in Yaroslavl as a city architect (since 1895). He drafted the fence of the Elias Church (1895) based on the drawing of Academician A.M. Pavlinov . According to Nikiforovβs projects, the buildings of the city bank, the Church of the Sign of the Mother of God, the eye hospital on the Volzhskaya Embankment were built. He thoroughly rebuilt the building of the Hotel Europe and the house of the photographer G. A. Petrazhitsky on Theater Square. On behalf of the City Duma, he prepared (1908) a project for the building of the new Yaroslavl Theater [3] .
Since 1897, a full member of the Yaroslavl provincial scientific archival commission , which he examined the Epiphany, Ilyinskaya (1909) and Ascension Church (1911) in Yaroslavl, was a member of the commission for the description of the churches of the Yaroslavl diocese. In 1909, Nikiforov was a member of the construction commission for the reconstruction of the Gostiny Dvor . He was elected by the vowel of the City Duma. He was engaged in pedagogical activity: after the opening of the City drawing classes (1896) he taught technical drawing there. [four]
After October 1917, he held various positions in the construction institutions of Yaroslavl. Since 1918 he worked in the Committee of State Structures: as an architect in the bureau of scientific research for the preparation of diagrams and cartograms; workshop manager, member, then head of the technical standardization bureau; Head of "Architect". After the liquidation of the Committee in 1922, he was appointed head of the standardization bureau of the Yargubkommunotdel. [four]
