History

The date of birth of the theater is considered to be November 21, 1965 , when the first performance of the children's musical theater took place on the stage of the Variety Theater - the premiere of Mikhail Morozov ’s opera Morozko .

Initially, the theater did not have its own stage, but soon it moved to the building of the former Slavyanskiy Bazar Hotel on Nikolskaya Street (until October 25, the street until 1990).

In 1979, the theater moved to its own new building on Vernadsky Avenue, designed and built specifically for him. Palekh artists took part in the interior design of the theater, including N. I. Golikov , who painted the Room of Fairy Tales. The theater building is crowned with a sculpture of the Blue Bird , which is a symbol of the theater.

In 1987, the theater was awarded the honorary title of academic.

There are two halls in the modern theater building:

  • a large hall - for 1100 seats, with three stages: one main and two side. In this hall is one of the attractions of the theater - a curtain on the theme of the opera Sadko by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov .
  • small hall - 300 seats, concert.

In 2003, by the centenary of N.I. Sats, a monument was erected in front of the theater. At the monument, the figure of Natalia Sats is depicted with two children in the images of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf [2] .

In 2019, it was decided to reconstruct the theater building. 1.8 billion rubles were allocated for repairs [3] .
