Sobansky, Oscar

Oscar Sobanski ( Polish. Oskar Sobański ; April 20, 1935 , Gdynia - November 21, 2008 ) - Polish film critic.

He graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Warsaw . He made his debut as a journalist in the social and cultural magazine Poprostu (1955-1957). In 1958-1960 worked at the recording studio of film processing in Warsaw. In the years 1967-1972. headed the department in the magazine of the Union of Filmmakers of the NDP Magazyn Filmowy , then in the magazine Film . He is the author of a number of review books on Polish cinema, including “Actors Old, Actors New” ( Polish: Aktorzy dawni, aktorzy nowi ; 1972) [1] and the reference book “ Polish Feature Films , 1945-1985” ( English Polish Feature Films: A Reference Guide, 1945-1985 ; 1987), which includes a number of information on earlier careers of leading actors and directors [2] . In addition to cinema, he was fond of travel, wrote a number of guides (mainly co-authored with Janina Palecka), including “ Tortilla by Sancho Panza : Spanish Cuisine ” ( Polish. Tortilla u Sancho Pansy: kuchnia hiszpańska ; 1977), “Small Guide to Spain "( Polish. Mały przewodnik po Hiszpanii ; 1982)," Lisbon alphabet "( Polish. Lizbońskie ABC ; 1985).
