Biography
After World War II, George Kramer was one of the budding chess talents of the United States. In 1945, at the age of sixteen, he won the New York State Chess Championship. [1] The next year, in 1946, he made his debut in the US Chess Championship , where he finished 9th. [2] Represented the United States at the Chess Olympiad in 1950 and won the individual silver medal on the reserve board. In 1952, George Kramer won the Manhattan Chess Club Championship.
In later years, George Kramer was unable to repeat these results. He twice participated in the US Chess Championships (1957, 1962), but both times finished tournaments at the bottom of the table. [3] [4] In the 1960s, George Kramer won the New Jersey State Chess Championships three times (1964, 1967, 1969). [five]
