Early years
Sanders was born in Carson , California . In 2013, he graduated from the High School of the Great Arts. [1] He entered the theater school at the University of De Paul , but left there in 2016 in order to focus on his acting career [2] .
Career
Sanders made his debut on the big screen with a role in Chris Eski's film “Search” in 2013 [3] [4] . In 2015, he appeared with a small role in the film “ Voice of the Streets ”, and in 2016 starred in one of the episodes of the Refinery29 web series “Slim” [5] .
In 2016, Sanders also appeared in Barry Jenkins ’s drama Moonlight [6] , which has received critical acclaim and won several awards, including an Academy Award for Best Film . Sanders also received good reviews for his role [7] [8] .
In 2018, Sanders played one of the main roles in the action film “The Great Equalizer 2 ” [9] . In 2019, he appeared in Rupert Wyatt ’s science-fiction thriller “ Battle for Earth ” [10] , and also took on the lead role in HBO's “Son of America,” based on the eponymous novel by Richard Wright [11] . He played the role of rapper RZA in the mini-series Hulu " Wu-Tang: American Saga " about the history of hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan , released in September 2019 [12] .
