Description

Small short-winged beetles , body length about 3.5 mm. It differs from closely related species ( A. fugax , A. irmgardis , A. orientalis , A. spadicea, and A. schmausi ) in a completely black body, hind and middle tarsi long (equal or longer than shins). Pronotum transverse, head large (almost equal to width of pronotum), legs very long. Antennae 11-segmented. The front, middle and hind tarsi are 5-segmented (formula 5-5-5). The mandibular palpi consist of 4 segments (with the 5th pseudo-segment), and the labial palp consists of 3 segments (with the 4th pseudo-segment). The body is subparallel from the sides. Larvae are parasites of puparia flies (pass hypermetamorphosis ) [2] . The species was first described in 1900 , and its valid status was confirmed during an audit conducted in 2000 by Kazakhstan entomologists Professor V. A. Kashcheev (1953-2012) [3] and M.K. Childebaev (Institute of Zoology, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akademgorodok, Almaty , Kazakhstan ). It is included in the subgenus Rheochara (based on the large head and long legs) together with the species A. fugax, A. irmgardis, A. orientalis, A. spadicea, and A. schmausi [1] .
