Life
Constantine was the son of Roman IV Diogenes and his first Bulgarian wife, daughter Alusian [1] [2] . He was deprived of inheritance rights when his father married the Dowager Empress Eudokia Macremvolitissa in 1068 [1] . It was named after his grandfather, the military commander Constantine Diogenes (died in 1032).
Anna Dalassina , wife of the brother of the late emperor Isaac I Comnenus , despised the imperial family of Dukes. She believed that the Dukes usurped the throne, forcing Emperor Isaac to abdicate, and her husband John Komnin to refuse the opportunity to become emperor. Anna Dalassina thought that they would destroy the country. Therefore, Anna plotted with Roman Diogenes and others to remove minor Michael VII Dooku . Roman Diogenes was proclaimed emperor and married the Dowager Empress Eudokia Macremvolitissa . In order to gain a foothold on the throne, Constantine’s marriage was also arranged: the daughter of John Komnin and Anna Dalassina, Theodora, was chosen as the bride for him [3] . Their daughter Anna Diogenissa married the great zupan Raska Uros Vukanovich .
Constantine died in battle in 1073 [4] . In the 1090s, False-Constantine appeared , who invaded the Byzantine Empire with the help of the Polovtsians in 1095 [5] [6] .
