Quedius curtipennis (lat.) Is a species of short-winged beetles of the genus Quedius from the subfamily Staphylininae ( Staphylinidae ). Western Palaearctic , including Russia , Central Asia [1] [2] [3] . Introduced into North America [4] .

Description
Small bugs with shortened elytra and elongated body, about 1 cm long (from 10 to 15 mm). It differs from closely related species ( Quedius balticus , Quedius altaicus , Quedius subunicolor , Quedius meridiocarpathicus ) with its relatively large size, smooth scutellum, and black sheaths. The apical lobe of the aedeagus (dorsal) paramer gradually tapers towards the apex; rows of sensory setae close to paramer lateral margin. Formula paws 5-5-5. Head rounded, narrower than pronotum. The front of the body (head and pronotum) is shiny. The species was first described in 1908 [5] . Included in the nominative subgenus Quedius s. str. (on the basis of a solid front edge of the labrum) along with species of Q. altaicus, Q. subunicolor, Q. meridiocarpathicus and Q. balticus [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] .
