Description

Small beetles with short elytra and elongated body, about 1 cm long (12 to 14 mm). It differs from related species ( Quedius balticus , Quedius altaicus , Quedius subunicolor , Quedius sundukovi ) in relatively large sizes, with a common brown body color, elytra equal in length to pronotum, and genital structure. Paradera of the edeagus (laterally) with their apex directed ventrally and away from the median lobe in the form of a small hook. The formula of the paws is 5-5-5. The head is round, narrower than the pronotum. The front of the body (head and pronotum) is shiny. The species was first described in 1832 by the Russian entomologist Eduard Petrovich Menetrie ( Édouard Ménétries ; 1802-1861). Included in the nominated subgenus Quedius s. str. (based on the integral anterior margin of the labrum) together with the species Q. altaicus, Q. subunicolor, Q. meridiocarpathicus and Q. balticus [1] [7] [8] [9] [10] .
