Biography
Hans Fischer was born on August 21, 1906 in the city of Rottenbach in Thuringia [1] . After graduation, he studied law at the universities of Jena , Königsberg and Halle . In 1930 he passed the first state exam, and in 1933 - the second, after which he became a doctor of law.
May 1, 1932 joined the NSDAP (party ticket No. 1 187 881) and the SS (No. 29 627). In 1933 he entered the service of an official in the Gestapo of Erfurt . From October 1, 1934 to April 13, 1935 he headed the Gestapo in Erfurt. June 18, 1934 was promoted to Untersturmfuhrer SS. In 1935 he left the evangelical church. On April 13, 1935, he was appointed head of the Gestapo in Recklinghausen , and in 1936 in Münster. January 30, 1936 became Obersturmfuhrer SS. He then led the Gestapo offices in Breslau and Königsberg. January 30, 1937 received the title of Hauptsturmfuhrer SS. On July 28, 1938, he was promoted to senior government adviser and in the same year became the SS Obersturmbannführer .
During the Polish campaign, he commanded the 3rd Einsatzgruppe until its dissolution on November 20, 1939 [1] [2] . The Einsatzgruppe consisted of two Einsatzkommands:
- Einsatzkommand 1 / III under the direction of Dr. Wilhelm Scharpwinkel
- Einsatzkommand 2 / III led by Dr. Fritz Lipphardt
The unit followed the 8th Army of General Johannes Blaskowitz and on September 10, 1939 reached the city of Lodz . The Einsatzgruppe’s tasks included the fight against all “elements hostile to Germany ”, counterintelligence, the arrest of politically unreliable persons and the confiscation of weapons. However, in essence, these operational units carried out the killing of the Polish intelligentsia and the carrying out of Jewish pogroms.
From late 1939 to February 24, 1940, Fischer was an inspector of the Security Police and the SD in Vienna . On November 9, 1941, he rose to the rank of Oberfuhrer SS and was appointed Inspector of the Security Police and SD in Stuttgart. At that time, he was also the head of the Security Police and SD in Alsace [3] . From April 12, 1944 to November 9, 1944, the inspector of the security police and the SD in Berlin and the inspector of the schools of the security police.
The postwar fate of Fisher is unknown [1] [4] .
