The main event of the group is the annual SIGMOD conference, held since 1975. It is considered one of the most important in the relevant field, the competition among the speakers for the conference is quite high for the industry: the average share of accepted reports in relation to the submitted for the period from 1996 to 2012 was 18% [1] . Since 1991, the conference has been held in conjunction with another major event - the Symposium of the Association of Computing Techniques on the Principles of Database Systems ( English PODS ), organized by SIGMOD with two other thematic groups - SIGACT and , the group of events is designated as “SIGMOD / PODS”

The group awards several prizes for their contributions to the field of data management, the most important of which is the annual , awarded for innovative and lasting value research and development in the field of database management systems; Among the laureates are Michael Stonebreaker (1992), Jim Gray (1993), Hector Garcia-Molina (1999), Jeffrey Ullman (2006), Moshe Vardi (2008).

The main periodical is the quarterly magazine SIGMOD Record [2] .
