Biography

He graduated from school number 33 in Yaroslavl, served as a sailor in the Black and Baltic Seas, studied mathematical linguistics at the philological faculty of Moscow State University . In 1969 he received a diploma as a teacher of Russian as a foreign language . Worked in India. He created the museum of the Russian epic “Bylina” in the Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve (1977-1992), in 1979 he defended his thesis “Genres of the historical and legendary narrative of Vladimir literature of the second half of the XII century”. Doctor of Philology (1993), the dissertation "Development of Old Russian Literature of the XII Century" is defended at Moscow State University M. V. Lomonosov. Professor (1995). He taught at Moscow State University, Ivanovo University , teaches at the Yaroslavl Pedagogical University. K. D. Ushinsky . He headed the department of Russian literature in YAGPU (1992 -).

He taught courses in Old Russian literature , foreign literature of the Middle Ages , Russian literature of the 18th-19th centuries, comparative poetics of medieval literatures, historical typology of Russian literary and cultural traditions, the theory and practice of interpreting literary text, and dynamic poetics of Russian literature.

Scientific Activities

Sphere of interests - Old Russian literature and culture (including folk culture ); Russian book culture and its Byzantine-Old Slavonic origins; medieval culture of Russia and its European ties; typology of Russian cultural tradition; comparative poetics of medieval literature; dynamic poetics of Russian literature; Russian classical literature; its European connections; Old Russian literature and its connection with the New Time ; creativity of N. A. Nekrasov . He studied the " Word of Igor’s Regiment ". He published about 130 works, including books, monographs, teaching aids. Member of the RFBR expert council since 2001.
