Holy Protection Church (Dzerzhinsk)

Holy Protection Church was built no earlier than 1851 in the city of Dzerzhinsk ^[1] . In his book “Traveling in Belarus and the Polessky Territory,” Pavel Mikhailovich Shpilevsky mentions the Holy Protection Church in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Vladislav Syrokomlya also wrote in his travel essays “Wandering around my outskirts” about this church ^[2] .

Since 1907, the parish was led by Priest Sergiy Sadovsky ^[3] . After 1917, persecution fell upon the Church. In 1936, the temple was closed and destroyed: the wooden dome was demolished ^[3] . The church was used as a storage room. In 1937, Sergiy Sadovsky was arrested and executed ^[3] . In 1942, the church was opened, divine services were resumed, from 1942 to 1945, Father John Kuryan held the priesthood in the church, then he was replaced by Archpriest Alexy Skobei. In 1952, the temple was renovated: plastered and whitewashed, and later, father Igor Zeleznyak carried out the restoration of the central dome ^[3] .

In 1990-1991, the church was renovated by the rector of the parish, Archpriest Nikolai Lednik: they made central heating, water supply, an alarm system; in 1998, a modern detached bell tower was built ^[3] .

2005-2009 - overhaul of the temple. New domes and crosses, windows and doors were installed, and a ramp for wheelchairs was added. In 2014-2015 - the area around the Holy Protection Church was covered with paving tiles ^[3] .

In 2005, icons and crosses began to myrrh in the temple, many pilgrims came to the temple ^[2] .
