The college was opened in 1965 as a polytechnic technical school, which trained personnel for the meat and dairy industry, civil engineering and transport. In the late 1960s, it was reorganized into a road technical school and transferred to the Ministry of Roads of the RSFSR. This was due to the construction of a network of paved roads in Kalmykia and the increased demand for road services by the republic. In the first six years of its existence, the college prepared for the national economy about two thousand specialists [1] .
In 2002, the Elistino Automobile and Highway College was transformed into a college [2] . As of 2010, 70 teachers worked at the college, teaching about 1000 students. Over 45 years, about 13 thousand specialists have been graduated. In 2014, the college was reorganized into the Elista Polytechnic College by merging with the College of Technology and Civil Engineering [3] .
Elistino Road College is located in three educational buildings, has a library, a garage with a training fleet, a dining room, a gym.
