Biography

Alfred Hasselberg was born on August 30 (according to other data on September 30 [1] ) in 1908 in Essen in the family of an entrepreneur [2] . After graduation, he studied law and received his doctoral degree at the University of Erlangen . In his student years, he became a member of the Bonn fraternity . In 1933 he joined the ranks of the Assault Detachments (SA) [3] , then joined the NSDAP (party ticket No. 2 837 238), and later moved from the SA to the SS (No. 272 ​​286). In 1935 he entered the service in the Berlin Gestapo . From 1936 he headed the Gestapo in Schneidemühle , then in Dortmund .

After the start of World War II, Hasselberg headed Einzaccando 3, which is part of Einzacgroup 1, from the end of September 1939. As a result of the actions of the unit in Poland, thousands of people died. From November 1939, he served as commander of the security police and SD in Lublin [3] . In December 1939, Hasselberg had to return to Berlin on charges of mistreatment of his co-workers from the Einsatz team. The investigation was later discontinued, but this was the end of Hasselberg’s SS career. At his own request, he was placed at the disposal of the Wehrmacht . He survived the war and died in 1950 for natural reasons [4] [5] .
