Sports career
He graduated from Colorado College, where he also played hockey, baseball and American football. As part of the Colorado College Tigers nibbled three times in the playoffs of the NCAA Championship in 1950, together with partners on the student team, he became the champion of the league. He ended his university career with 91 points (62 goals, 29 assists). As a striker for a football team, he broke the record of the legendary Dutchman Clark with 16 touchdowns and took fourth place in the national standings in 1952.
At the Winter Olympics in Oslo (1952), he became a silver medalist in the US national team.
Further career
After graduating from college, he refused the opportunity to try his hand at the Boston Bruins NHL club, and instead went as a player and coach to Italy. Returning to Colorado Springs, he began a 22-year career as a hockey officer and judge at the Western College of Hockey Association.
He also successfully engaged in the insurance business, and ultimately from 1982 to 1995, he held the position of senior vice president and marketing director of Acordia of Colorado. After retiring, he continued to work as a consultant to Acordia Mountain West Inc.
He was twice inducted into the Colorado Springs Athletics Hall of Fame - individually in 2004, and then in 1998 as a member of the 1950 national hockey team. He is also included in the Colorado and Colorado Springs Sports Halls of Fame.
