Biography
Vera Matveyevna Livanova was born in Moscow. Her father was a historian, professor and rector of Moscow State University Lyubavsky Matvey Kuzmich , and her mother was Natalya Valeryanovna Lyubavskaya, nee Zyzykina. In 1923–24, Vera Livanova was accepted into her studio by Sukhotina-Tolstaya, Tatyana Lvovna . In 1926, the future artist and poster artist enters the Moscow State Academic Art School in memory of 1905 , now the Moscow Academic Art School (MAHA). In 1928–1930, Vera Livanova studied at the Higher Art and Technical Institute (Leningrad Higher Art and Technical Institute ) at the theater department. Its teachers are masters of Soviet art before the war Bruni, Lev Alexandrovich , Gerasimov, Sergey Vasilievich , Konchalovsky, Petr Petrovich , I. I. Rabinovich. As a poster artist, famous artists of the early Soviet period Deineka, Alexander Alexandrovich , Pimenov, Yury Ivanovich , Tatlin, Vladimir Evgrafovich have a great influence on Livanov.
Vera Matveyevna begins her professional activity as a theater artist-decorator. In 1931-1932 creates movie posters commissioned by Intourist. In 1932 he worked as a graphic artist in Perm in the All-Union Chamber of Commerce. Then she wrote a large painting "Preparing workers for defense" (1932). Now this work is in the Perm State Art Gallery [1] .
Later, Livanova moved to Kiev, where she was fond of creating posters.
In 1936, Vera Matveyevna returned to Moscow, where two years later she became a member of the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR. For more than thirty years, from 1937 to 1968, Vera Livanova works as a poster artist at IZOGIZ publishing houses and a Soviet artist . In the period from 1958 to 1968, she often makes orders for Agitplakat, a creative workshop in the CX system of the USSR and the Moscow Union of Artists of the RSFSR [2] .
She worked on a wide variety of topics - electoral, holiday, agricultural, school and children's posters: “Keep, dry powder!” (Together with Olga Eiges , 1937), “May 9 is a national holiday of victory!” (1946), “Glory to you , invincible Moscow! ”(1947),“ Lift virgin soil! ”(1954),“ Long live the All-Union Day of the Railwayman! ”(1957).
For the creative experience in the 60s I went on instructions from the Central Committee of the Komsomol on the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric station , in Divnogorsk , Norilsk .
Husband Livanova was an architect and theatrical figure German Livanov, several posters Vera Matveevna performed in collaboration with her daughter Tatyana.
Creativity
At the beginning of work with the publishing house "Izogiz", Livanov is more interesting as a colorist who is not afraid of non-standard color solutions. As for the content of the posters, they tend to glorify the Soviet government. This is a topic of elections, anniversaries and other political events, as well as agricultural and industrial achievements.
During World War II, Vera Livanova contributed to the topic of mass propaganda. She created the very first poster, proclaiming the defeat of Nazi Germany.
After the war, Livanova turned to the topic of the post-war reconstruction of Soviet agriculture. She also performed posters on the elections, such as “Elections to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR” and “Constitution of the USSR”.
In the 1950s, Vera Livanova created posters in the style of traditional Russian popular prints. In particular, a series of posters dedicated to the celebration of the 800th anniversary of Moscow were made close to this style [3] .
In the 60s, Livanova is fond of the international theme. There are posters on the theme: “Freedom for Africa!”, “Peace. Work. May! ”,“ For peace and happiness in the whole world! ”.
In addition to posters, Livanova is fond of pencil drawings and gouache drawing. In this style, she portrays Khost in 1957, Gurzuf and Crimea in the 1960s, and Siberia in the sixties - Divnogorsk, Yenisei, the construction of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric station. By order of the Ministry of Culture of the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic performs a series of works in gouache on the military-patriotic theme.

After joining the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1938, Vera Livanova actively participates in Moscow, republican, all-union and foreign exhibitions. Her works were presented at the following exhibitions:

The works of Vera Matveevna Livanovoy have in their collections the State Tretyakov Gallery , the State Russian Museum , the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (former USSR Revolution Museum) , the Perm Art Gallery , in a number of museums abroad [14 ] .
The works of Vera Matveyevna Livanova are represented in the Unified Electronic Catalog Russian State Library [15] .
