Biography
The son of an officer. Educated, after graduating from military school, then in 1896 - Bucharest school of naval officers with the rank of junior lieutenant. He served in the naval and port administrations.
One of the founders of Revistei Maritime (Maritime Magazine) and the patriotic, cultural and social association is Liga Navală Română (Romanian Naval League).
Creativity
Jean Barth is a marine painter , one of the pioneers of maritime themes in Romanian literature .
His first essays and articles appeared in the workers' newspapers. E. Botezu owns travel essays and stories in which the romance of the sea often serves as a backdrop for portraying the heavy share of workers, fishermen and port workers.
The most famous novel by E. Botez "Europolis" (1933) about the events that shook the life of the small Romanian port of Sulin at the beginning of the 20th century. The whole town becomes agitated when one of his natives returns after a forty-year absence from America.
