Biography
Wilhelm Weinberg was born in Stuttgart into a Jewish family. Weinberg studied medicine in Tübingen and Munich and in 1886 received a doctorate in medicine. In 1889, he returned to Stuttgart, where he had an extensive general, as well as obstetric and gynecological practice. In addition to medical practice, he was interested in theoretical issues, founded the Stuttgart Society of Racial Hygiene and was its president. [2]
He spent most of his life studying medical statistics and human genetics , including the problems of studying twins, mutations, and applying inheritance laws to populations . A few years before his death, he left the practice and moved to Tübingen, where he died. His works in the field of genetics and epidemiology were published in German and became widely known outside the Germanic language range only after his death. [3]
