Krzysztof Zanussi ( Polish: Krzysztof Zanussi ; born June 17, 1939 , Warsaw , Poland ) is a Polish film director , screenwriter and producer. Laureate of the main prize of the Venice Film Festival “ Golden Lion ” (painting “ Year of the Calm Sun ”, 1984), winner of many international and national awards.

Biography
By its own admission, it has Italian roots [4] .
He studied physics at the University of Warsaw ( 1955 - 1959 ) and philosophy at the University of Krakow (1959 - 1962 ). Since 1958, he shot amateur films that have received a number of awards. He entered the directing department of the Lodz Film School, which he graduated in 1966 . Zanussi's graduation film, Death of a Provincial (1966), won a prize at the IFF in Venice and the main prize at the IFF in Mannheim, 1967 ).
Author of a number of documentary and television films, including Face to Face (1967) and Standings ( 1968 ). The first full-length film - “ The Structure of the Crystal ” (Struktura kryształu, 1969) immediately determined the director’s place in Polish cinema, securing him the role of a cold rationalist, an impassive researcher of the morals of modern Polish intelligentsia, prone to posing the most complex existential problems.
Since the beginning of the 70s, Zanussi has been one of the most capable directors of Polish cinema, making one or two films annually, alternating between full-length films and television films, in which - on a small area - he “fulfills” the problems and plot of “big” films.
The author of several collections of television scripts (partially together with E. Zhebrovsky), the books “Conversations about amateur cinema” (1978) and “It's time to die” [5] (1997). Prize-winner David Europeo ( Italy ) for his work in general. Artistic director of the creative association "Tor" since 1980, vice-chairman of the Union of Polish Filmmakers (1974-1983).
Along with work in film and television, he staged a number of theatrical and opera performances in Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, Russia, Belarus. So, in 2008, he staged the play “Duet” based on the play by O. Eskin on the stage of the Novosibirsk State Drama Theater “Old House” .
