Schnobrich, Matt

Matthew Roman "Matt" Schnobrich ( born Matthew Roman "Matt" Schnobrich ; born , ) is an American rower who played for the US national rowing team from 2005-2008 . Bronze medalist of the Beijing Summer Olympics , winner and medalist of many regattas of national importance.

Biography

Matt Schnobrich was born on November 12, 1978 in Minneapolis , Minnesota . He spent his childhood in St. Paul , then entered the St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights , where, among other things, he went in for skiing.

Engaged in rowing in 1997. During his studies at the University of Minnesota, he was a member of a local rowing team and repeatedly participated in various student competitions. He later trained at the Caspersen Training Center in New Jersey [1] [2] .

He made his debut in rowing at the adult international level in the 2005 season, when he joined the main team of the American national team and performed in oar wheelless deuces at the World Championships in Gifu - he managed to qualify here only in the consolation finale C and was located in the final protocol of the competitions on line 13.

In 2006, at the world championship in Eton, he became the fourth in the four-wheelless.

At the 2007 World Championships in Munich, in the steering wheelless fours he got into final B and took the final eighth place.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . As a member of the G8 crew, he reached the finish line third behind the teams from Canada and Great Britain - thereby winning the bronze Olympic medal. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his sports career [3] .
