Stefan (Sado)

Born on July 13, 1965 in the city of Leningrad into the family of linguist, Semitologist and public figure Mikhail Yukhanovich and Zinaida Ivanovna Sado ^[3] .

After school, he entered the Leningrad Theological Seminary , and after graduation, he entered the Leningrad Theological Academy .

On April 29, 1989, he was ordained a deacon ^[4] . In the same month, Metropolitan Alexy (Ridiger) ^{[5] was} tonsured a monk with the name of Stephen in honor of the first martyr Apostle Stephen. On November 8, 1989, he was ordained priesthood. He was left the dean of the temple of the Theological Academy, and he was for 7 years.

In 1990 he graduated with honors from the Leningrad Theological Academy. His PhD work was devoted to the history of the Urmia spiritual mission .

When in 1995 there was a question about the revival of monastic life in the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, one of the first was included in the list of future inhabitants. Since September of the same year, he participated in the resumption of monastic worship in the church of St. Nicholas in the cemetery. In April 1996, he was transferred from the St. Petersburg Academy to the Lavra brotherhood ^[6] .

October 1, 1996 he was appointed head of the library of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy ^[4] .

In 1998 he was elevated to the rank of hegumen ^[4] .

On June 18, 2013, he was appointed to the position of confessor, who adopted a protégé confession from students of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy ^[4] .

On October 22, 2015, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was appointed a member of the bilateral commission on dialogue between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Assyrian Church of the East ^[7] .

On April 27, 2017, in the Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofiy (Sudakov) was elevated to the rank of archimandrite for the zealous ministry of the Holy Church ^[8] .
