Golikov, Sergey Nikolaevich

Sergei Nikolayevich Golikov (1919-1997) - Soviet pharmacologist and toxicologist, academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1971), Honored Scientist of the RSFSR (1970).

Biography

Born on January 29, 1919 in the city of Bolkhov, Oryol Oblast.

In 1941 - graduated from the 1st Moscow Medical Institute .

The participant of the Great Patriotic War - first a doctor of the guards mortar units, and then a specialist toxicologist, captain of the medical service.

From 1946 to 1949 - graduate student of the Department of Pharmacology of the Moscow Medical Institute.

In 1956 he defended his doctoral dissertation.

In 1960 - awarded the academic title of professor.

In 1971 - was elected an academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR .

From 1955 to 1975 - Director of the Institute of Toxicology.

He died in 1997, was buried in the Theological Cemetery of St. Petersburg [3] .

Scientific and social activities

The author of more than 100 scientific papers, including 7 monographs that are devoted to the study of the mechanism of action of toxic substances and experimental treatment of poisonings caused by them.

Under his leadership, 7 doctors and 22 candidates of sciences were trained.

Editor of the pharmacology editorial department of the 3rd edition of the Big Medical Encyclopedia .
