History
The first type 68 pistols began to enter the army in the late 1960s and until the end of the 1980s they remained the main example of the personal weapons of officers of the Korean People’s Army [1] .
In the late 1980s, type 68 pistols began to be gradually replaced by new Baek-Du-San pistols (a copy of Chinese-made CZ 75 pistol chambered for 9 × 19 mm ) [1] .
Description
The gun "type 68" is a constructive analogue of the Soviet TT pistol of the 1933 type , designed to replace the Soviet and Chinese TT pistols that were previously in service.
Changes were made to the design of the gun, affecting primarily the device of the barrel locking units (the bolt stop was strengthened) and the magazine was fixed. The dimensions and weight of the gun are somewhat reduced compared to the TT, the geometry of the parts has been changed. The use of magazines from a “type 68” pistol in TT pistols is impossible without their modification, since there is no cutout in the “type 68” stores for the magazine latch on its side wall.
