Biography
The youngest son of Philip Ludwig I , Count of Hanau-Münzenberg . Since the father unexpectedly died when the eldest son was only three years old, a regency council was created to manage the county and guardianship of minor children, which included Johann VI (count of Nassau-Dillenburg) , Ludwig I Sain-Wittgenstein and Philip IV (count of Ganau -Lichtenberg) , which in 1585 was replaced by his son Philip V (Count of Hanau-Lichtenberg) . The widowed mother in 1581 married again - to Johann VII of Nassau-Siegen , so her children were in the Nassau-Siegen court, which was the center of the Reformation in the German lands. Subsequently, the guardians did not want to terminate the regency, and if Philip Ludwig II forced them to recognize him as an adult and eligible in 1600, then custody of Albrecht was terminated in 1608 at the insistence of the Palatinate Elector Frederick IV .
Albrecht spent most of his life in conflict, first with his older brother Philip Ludwig II, and then with his son Philip Moritz (more precisely, with his mother and guardian Katarina Belgika Oranskaya-Nassau ). The reason for the conflict was that he also wanted to be an independent ruler, but in 1375 the principle of the birthright acted in the Ganau clan, according to which the heir was only the eldest son, who inherited the entire county. As a compromise, he was allocated an upturn : Amt Schwarzenfels (where Albrecht moved to the Schwarzenfels Castle), Ortenberg , the lands of a former monastery in Naumburg and a share of the county of Hanau-Münzenberg in the city of Assenheim. However, this conflict was not resolved: Albrecht claimed sovereignty.
When the Thirty Years War began , Albrecht and his family were forced to flee from Schwarzenfels, first to Worms , and then to Strasbourg , where he died.
