Michalina Anna Wisłocka ( Polish: Michalina Anna Wisłocka , nee Brown - Polish; Braun ); July 1, 1921 , Lodz , Poland - February 5, 2005 , Warsaw , Poland ) - Polish gynecologist , sexologist , author of the book “The ”- the first expert guide on the culture of sex for the countries of the communist camp [1] .

Biography

Michalina Brown was born into an intelligent family; her father worked as a school teacher (and later director) in Lodz , her mother belonged to a noble family, gave Polish lessons. Before World War II, the family lived in a school building, but in 1939 was forced to move to Krakow . Soon Mikhalina married the chemist Stanislav Wislotsky, whom she met at the age of 12. The couple went to Warsaw , where both worked in the hospital and were part of the resistance movement to the Nazis [2] .

In 1952, Wislotskaya graduated from the . In 1959 she received specialization in obstetrics and gynecology , and after 10 years - a doctorate in medical sciences .

In 1957, together with Professor Bogdan Bednarsky, Michalina Wislotskaya became a co-founder of the , an organization supporting sexual education of youth [1] .

In 1978, Wislotsky’s manual “The ” was published, with which openness began to gain momentum in the discussion of sex and human sexual behavior in Poland. The book became a bestseller: in total, more than 7 million copies were sold.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of Poland of September 9, 1997, Michalina Wisłocka was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Renaissance of Poland [3] .

Mikhalina Wislotskaya died in one of the Warsaw hospitals due to complications caused by myocardial infarction [4] . She was buried on February 11, 2005 at the Lutheran cemetery in Warsaw .

Memory

The name in Lubniewice [5] , as well as one of the squares in Lodz [6] were named after Mikhalina Wisłocka.

In 2017, a biographical film directed by Maria Sadovskaya about the most famous Polish gynecologist and sexologist - “The ” ” [7] .
