Toponymy
The lake is named after the high priest and the prophet Aaron , the elder brother of Moses in the Old Testament [2] .
General characteristics
Located at an altitude of 414 meters above sea level, the lake has an area of 2.48 km², an average depth of 2.74 m , and the maximum - 4.88 m [1] . It has a flow through a channel into Lake Moses, which is located nearby from the southwest side [3] .
Fishing
The following fish species live in the lake: black crappie , black catfish , blue- billed sunflower , American catfish , pike perch , American eudidot , large-mouthed perch , pike , king and others [4] .
Scientists believe that the lake’s water is contaminated, including with mercury (albeit in small quantities) and that fish caught should be treated with caution, eating it only to a limited extent. Most of all, mercury accumulation is recorded in large fish (perch, pikeperch and pike). A pollution source is a thermal power plant operating on coal mined in the vicinity [5] .
